Adam Rutledge is a shareholder and Director of Rice, Heard & Bigelow, a partnership of private trustees serving individuals, families, and charities in Massachusetts and beyond for more than 200 years.

Adam holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation and a Certificate in Trust from the American Bankers Association, and he is a member of the CFA Institute and the CFA Society of Boston. He graduated summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Wake Forest University in North Carolina, earned a master’s degree summa cum laude at Yale University under Professor Harold Bloom, and completed a doctorate in English Literature at Brandeis University, during which time he also edited the internal catalog of medieval manuscripts held by the Boston Public Library.

Dr Rutledge has extensive experience in board governance and fiduciary oversight in both a professional and volunteer capacity. He currently serves on the Executive Committee of the Trustees of Donations to the Protestant Episcopal Church in Massachusetts, is President of the Board of the Sears Charitable Trust, is Treasurer of the Trustees of Donations for Education in Liberia, and serves on the boards of several arts and letters organizations in the greater Boston area.

Dr Rutledge has been the Chairman of the Board of Governors since 2023.
